  • For our "Black Moroccan" design, we drew inspiration from one of the softest and most supple types of leather. High-quality Moroccan leather has been highly prized in luxury bookbinding since the late 16th century due to its durability and its ability to perfectly showcase gold leaf embellishments. With elegant botanical motifs worked into a rich, dark brown background, this design pays homage to the art of gold leaf tooling, which originated in the East and traveled to Europe via flourishing trade routes.

  • Paperblanks is a Canadian manufacturer that produces quality notebooks that are not only attractive but also extremely well-structured and bound using traditional techniques; the bindings are not glued (a binding technique that is economical for the manufacturer but eventually leads to page loss) but are instead all sewn.

All Paperblanks notebooks are bound using two methods. They are either hand-sewn using 'Coptic' binding, which originated in 4th-century Egypt, or Smyth sewn, the most durable binding technique, which allows the notebook to lie flat without page loss.

All Paperblanks notebooks use fine, laid writing paper that is acid-free, archival quality, and high-opacity. Their notebooks also feature a ribbon bookmark and an interior storage pouch inside the back cover for your notes.
