Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564) is considered one of the masters of the Italian Renaissance. The handwritten letter reproduced here shows the passion of one of humanity's greatest artists. And the point of creation, with The Creation of Adam from the Sistine Chapel featured on the back cover, forms a beautiful conclusion to this Embellished Manuscript.
The teenage mind of Michelangelo Buonarroti was a ceaseless battlefield. The opposing forces of religious faith and pagan beauty warred within his consciousness. Furthermore, they drove him to create a pantheon of artistic masterpieces.
The man known simply as Michelangelo possessed a genius as fertile as it was stern and uncompromising. One of the three "giants" of the High Renaissance in Florence, Michelangelo was much more introverted than his colleagues Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, and he outlived both by more than forty years. Considered one of the masters of all time, Michelangelo produced many of the world's finest frescoes and most revered sculptures during his lifetime.
As a student at the Medici Academy, Michelangelo was influenced by the elite members who educated and employed him. He came from an aristocratic background and took great pride in this heritage, going to extreme lengths to present himself as awe-inspiring and sophisticated. Michelangelo was particularly amazed by the elegant handwriting of the humanists and adopted the "humanist hand" (later known as cancelleresca) as his own.
Reproduced here, the letter written in Michelangelo's own hand shows the finesse and passion of one of the greatest artists humanity has ever produced with every stroke of the pen. Having previously released this design as a hardcover notebook in 2014, we are happy to bring it back as a softcover Flexi notebook. And with the addition of The Creation of Adam from the Sistine Chapel on the back cover, the point of creation beautifully complements this Embellished Manuscript notebook.

Paperblanks is a Canadian manufacturer that produces quality notebooks that are not only attractive but also extremely well-structured and bound using traditional techniques; the bindings are not glued (a binding technique that, while economical for the manufacturer, eventually leads to page loss) but are instead all sewn.
All Paperblanks notebooks are bound using one of two methods. They are either hand-sewn using 'Coptic' binding, which originated in 4th-century Egypt, or Smyth sewn, the most durable binding technique, which allows the notebook to open flat without page loss.
All Paperblanks notebooks use acid-free, archival-quality, high-opacity laid writing paper. Their notebooks also include a ribbon page marker and an inner pocket inside the back cover to store your notes.
